How Payments Work

Veeto facilitates payments between campaign organizers and contributors through our secure payment system. This guide explains how payments work on our platform.

Payment Flow Timeline

  1. Contribution Pledged: When a contributor supports a campaign, they authorize a payment which is immediately processed through Stripe.
  2. Funds Held by Veeto: Veeto securely holds all contributions until all payment release conditions are met.
  3. Funding Goal Assessment: If the campaign reaches its funding goal by the deadline, the process continues. If not, all funds are automatically refunded to contributors.
  4. Work Completion: The organizer completes the advocacy work as outlined in their campaign.
  5. Verification: The Veeto team verifies that the work has been completed in full.
  6. Appeal Window: A 48-hour window opens for contributors to appeal if they believe the work wasn't completed as promised.
  7. Fee Deduction: If no valid appeals are received, Veeto deducts the platform fee (7%) and Stripe processing fees (2.9% + $0.30).
  8. Fund Transfer: The remaining funds are transferred to the organizer's Stripe account.

Campaign Funding Details

Setting a Funding Goal

When creating a campaign, organizers set a compensation goal between $20 and $1,900. This represents the minimum amount they need to secure for engaging in the predefined advocacy work.

Funding Deadline

Each campaign has a funding deadline set by the organizer. If the funding goal is not met by this deadline, all contributions are automatically refunded to the contributors.

Payment Release Conditions

Funds are released to campaign organizers only when:

  1. The funding goal has been met before the deadline
  2. The organizer has completed the advocacy work outlined in their campaign in full
  3. The campaign has been verified as complete by the Veeto team
  4. The 48-hour appeal window has passed without valid appeals

Verification and Appeal Process

When a campaign is verified as complete by the Veeto team, we will automatically release the funds to the organizer after a 48-hour waiting period. During this time, contributors have the opportunity to appeal if they believe the work was not completed as promised. If an appeal is submitted within the 48-hour window, funds will be held until the Veeto team can thoroughly investigate the claim.
